A 133 feet (40.6 metres) tall stone sculpture of Thiruvalluvar, a Tamil poet and philosopher, is located in Kanyakumari. An interesting fact is that this status is located in the middle of the sea. The Thiruvalluvar statue is in a small island near the Kanyakumari beach. The ocean in which this statue is present is the one where the three main seas meet viz.; the Indian Ocean, the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea.

ThirumalaiNayak Palace β Madurai

Built in the 17thΒ century, in the city of Madurai, Tamil Nadu, the Thirumalai Nayak Palace was the main palace of King Thirumalai, who ruled Madurai between 1623 and 1659. This palace is considered one of the wonders of South India and it consists of classical structures. It is regarded as a national monument. The palace is so beautiful that it attracts lots of movie directors to do shooting here.

Vivekananda Rock Memorial β Kanyakumari

Situated on the same island where the Thiruvalluvar statue is located, the Vivekananda Memorial is a popular tourist monument in Tamil Nadu. It was built in 1970 in the honour of Swami Vivekananda and it is said that he attained enlightenment on the rock where this memorial is built.
Padmanabhapuram Palace β Nagercoil
20 kilometres away from Nagercoil, there is a beautiful fort calledPadmanabhapuram fort. This was the former capital of the kingdom of Travancore. The palace is called the Padmanabhapuram Palace and it is exceptionally well-built with brilliantly planned constructions. One should only visit to admire its beauty. In the palace, one could see a 300 year old wall clock which is still running.
When you visit this beautiful monument in Tamil Nadu, you would also be in the midst of the Veli hills, where this palace is located.

Shore Temple βMahabalipuram

This beautiful temple with some exceptionally carved structures and pillars is built across the shore of the Bay of Bengal. The Shore temple was built in 700 AD with blocks of granite. During the time of its construction, Narasimavarman II was the king of the Pallava dynasty, and this place was the busiest port in South India. The Shore Temple is recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
It is located in Mahabalipuram, a village which is towards the south of Chennai.
